studio and upcoming shows...Just spent several days last week in the studio to start work on a new project (EP?, single?, album?). I really intended to put out a new single to promote upcoming tours and an album next year... however, we were having so much fun that we now have six new songs recorded... and I'm really really happy with how it's all turning out... I'll keep you posted as to when this is all released!
Also, I have a show coming up soon at the Scratcher Sessions in NYC... Sunday, Oct 9th, 7:30pm The Scratcher, 209 E. 5th St. Wednesday, August 10th, 2011 1:05 PM EDT
west coast tour...Ah... Just arrived back in New York last night after another beautiful West Coast tour... What inspiring people and countryside along the way! We started out in Los Angeles about a month ago and ended in Seattle at the tail end of July...
Thanks so much to the talented and amazing Gina Young, Jordan 'O Jordan & Cat Biell for playing wonderful sets and sharing your songs with me... Thanks so much to all the friends and family along the way for coming out to support us and putting us up! I hope to soon return the favor... The image of floating downstream the other day on the Deschutes river in Oregon lingers as I wander around this bustling city... ![]() ![]() Tuesday, June 21st, 2011 2:25 PM EDT

![]() * * (from Planetary Group Press release) * * “Each song performed by Riffle was done with sweet sincerity and quiet elegance that is achieved by so few” – Nicole Logatto, CultureMob “Riffle has a warm vocal style that effortlessly communicates the emotional energy of his songs.” – Greg Shapiro, Wisconsin Gazette Chris Riffle has just confirmed a set of West Coast dates for Summer 2011. He’ll begin in Los Angeles on July 13th and continue through San Francisco and Portland, finishing at Piecora's Backroom in Seattle on July 29th. Although now an inhabitant of New York’s East Village, Chris often visits his former stomping grounds in the Pacific Northwest and has become well-known among music lovers in his native state of Washington. Chris strives to channel both the dynamism of New York and the down-to-earth feel of rural Washington to create refined and captivating music. After releasing two full-length albums (The Sun is Up in 2004 and Introducing… in 2010) Riffle self-released the I Am Not From Here EP in March 2011. It features Julia Kent (Antony and the Johnsons) on cello and Blake Flaming (Mars Volta) on drums. The two occasionally accompany Riffle for live shows along with the producer of his two most recent works and multi-instrumentalist Jimi Zhivago (Olabelle/Klaus Nomi). Throughout his years as a musician, Chris has opened for indie/folk mainstays like Death Cab For Cutie and Mary Lou Lord, toured the East and West coasts, even traveling to Alaska to open for Red Molly. One of Riffle’s most rewarding shows was headlining a gay straight alliance festival in his rural hometown in Washington State, an event that could only have been a dream when Chris was going to school there and busily writing songs about coming out for his first album. Of his first album, music journalist and former MTV personality John Norris said, "It’s really remarkable the way that [Chris] honestly and matter-of-factly sing[s] about guys…Not everyone, would be comfortable doing that with their first release." Norris’s thoughts on Riffle’s new music? "Over time Riffle’s music has gotten, if less in-your-face, considerably more nuanced and ever more compelling." Be sure to catch him on tour this summer up the West Coast. TOUR DATES Tuesday, April 19th, 2011 9:24 PM EDT
